AUSTIN -- The Texas Senate unanimously approved changes to vehicle inspections Tuesday but it's not what you might think. The only thing going away is the sticker.
Under the bill, indiviuals will still have to get their car inspected before it can be registered. The difference is that the information would be electronically maintained.
And for the first time, diesel vehicles would have to pass an emissions test. Texas lawmakers say this is about saving money and reducing inspection sticker fraud.
If the House passes the bill it would take effect September 1st.
